Welcome to my classroom website for 8th grade American History. I look forward to another great school year (2011 & 2012) and getting to know my students' both as citizens within the community as well as students here at South Pasadena Middle School. It has been an enjoyable and gratifying experience as a teacher here in South Pasadena for the last 12 years and I anticipate my 13th year to be much of the same.
My website will usually be updated weekly (by Monday at 2:40) in the areas of homework and or current projects. However, on occasion I may not have the opportunity to do so , therefore your child is still responsible for copying their homework for that week into the binder reminder. The homework for the entire week is written on the board on Monday and they are given time in class to copy it down and ask questions.
I am a strong believer in student advocacy. I encourage all of my students to seek my assistance and or ask clarifying questions if they have a concern about an assignment or with anything regarding the class in general. I understand that this is a skill that is developed over time, however by 8th grade I feel it is essential for students' to take ownership for their education.
The best means of communicating with me is by email aadanto@fc.spusd.net. I have a 24 hour policy in which I will respond to you within a 24 hour period from the time it was sent. Your child may also email me their questions and or concerns as well. They may also send assignments to me as attachments if they are experiencing printer problems at home or bring their USB drive to my class (prior to class starting) and print from the classroom printer. I encourage all of my students to do so, however they must do so prior to class starting
I look forward to meeting parents at Back to School Night on Wednesday September 7th and furthering our communication during the Middle School conference wee in the month of October.
